The National Metal Museum houses a large collection of contemporary metalwork and has about 3,000 items on permanent displpay, not including their traveling exhibitions. It features four buildings which were once a Marine hospital in the late 1800's and then a Civil War hospital that consisted of a nurse's headquarters, doctor's quarters, soldiers' quarters and the hospital itself. The doctor's quarters had a morgue in the basement with a body chute. The renovations that took place in 1979 turned up the strange occurences that still happen to this very day. Witnesses have reported ghostly Marines and voices and a pervasive feeling of being watched. Ghost investigators have turned up EVP's.
